The Witness ♥

Estoy leyendo un libro, YES I do that OK?, me encanta leer ok?

“I’m half in love with you,” he told her, “and heading fast toward three-quarters.” Something inside her burst like sunlight before it flooded away on a rise of panic. “Don’t do that.” “I don’t think it’s something you do or don’t. It’s something that happens or doesn’t.”

She fell into the kiss, headfirst, a breathless tumble that left her dizzy and weak. Seduction. Though she’d never allowed herself to be seduced—it was unnecessary—her mind recognized the sensation.
And her body surrendered to it.

“That didn’t suck, but I’ve got me a fascinating, beautiful woman I’m falling for.
Falling hard.”
Perdidamente.")

"...She’s got me, Russ. Right here.” He tapped a fist on his heart. “Sure it’s not considerably lower where she’s got you?” “There, too. But, Jesus, Russ, she does it for me. I just think about her and I’m there. I look at her, and … I swear I could look at her for hours.
Days.”
("... Me capturó Russ.

“How do I make you feel?”
“Happy. So happy. And terrified and confused.” “We’ll work on the happy until you’re easy and sure."
("¿Cómo te hago sentir?" "Feliz. Demasiado feliz. Y asustada y confundida."

“It’s good you do. I look at you, Abigail, smelling of that spring, your flowers blooming or waiting to, your eyes so serious, so goddamn beautiful, and I feel the same. There’s nowhere else. No one else.”
(“Haces bien.

“I don’t know what to do with how you make me feel. And I’m afraid of what my life will be if this changes and I never feel this way again.”

“I’d rather see a guilty man go free than an innocent one go down. Sometimes there are reasons to break the law.”

“It’s not always black and white, right and wrong. If you don’t consider all the shades and circumstances, you haven’t reached justice.”

She hadn’t believed in love. She hadn’t believed in miracles. Yet here was love. Here was her miracle.
(Ella no creía en el amor. No creía en milagros. Y aun asi, aquí estaba el amor. Aquí estaba su milagro.)

“You changed everything.” “Good or bad?” She held on another minute. “I don’t know. But you changed it.”
(“Lo cambiaste todo.” “¿Bueno o malo?” Ella se contuvo un minuto más. “No lo sé. Pero lo cambiaste”)

She’d laughed more since he’d come into her life than she had in the whole of it before him. That alone might be worth the risk.

“Love doesn’t turn on and off like a light switch.” “I don’t know. I’ve never been in love. I’m afraid to lose it, and you. And this. All of this."
Nunca he estado enamorada.

“You still love me.” “Listen up … I expect—no, I demand— more respect than that from you. I’m not some weak-spined half-ass fuckhead who slithers off when everything’s not just exactly perfect. I loved you an hour ago. I love you now. I’m going to keep right on loving you, so get used to it and stop expecting me to let you down. It’s insulting, and it’s pissing me off.” “I’m sorry.” “Good. You should be.”
(“Aún me amas.” “Escuchame…

He turned his head, kissed the top of her head. “I love you.” She pressed her face to the side of his throat. “It sounds lovely in bed, in the dark, when everything’s quiet.” “Because it’s true. And it’ll be true in the morning.” She closed her eyes, held the words to her as he held her. And hoped, in the morning, he’d give them to her again.

She turned back, eyes on his. “You told her you loved me.” “I did, because I do.” “I’m less annoyed.”
(Ella se volteó, mirándolo. “Le dijiste que me querías.” “Lo hice porque te quiero.” “ Estoy menos molesta.”)

“Would you trust him with your life?” “I would be. You’re my life now.” “Oh, God, you say that and I feel I’d wither away if I lost what I’ve found with you. You make me want to risk the quiet, Brooks, and I thought the quiet was all I ever wanted.”

“Do you want to live here so you can protect me?” “That would be a side benefit. Other side benefits include having my stuff handy, some closet and drawer space, and easy access to sex. All of those are pluses, but the main reason I want to live here is because I love you and I want to be with you.”

He drew her into the kiss, long and slow and deep, as the water showered over them. He’d have given her the moon itself if he could, and an ocean of wildflowers.

“Marriage …It’s a civil contract broken at least half the time with another document. People enter into it promising forever, when in reality—”
“I’m promising you forever.” “You can’t know.” “I believe.”
(“Matrmonio… “No puedes saberlo. ” “Confío.”)

“I do want it! But I …” “But?” “I don’t know! How can anyone think when they feel so much?”

“It’s a good word, ‘ours.’ Let’s use it a lot.”
(“Es una buena palabra ‘nuestro’. Hay que usarla bastante.”)

“Whatever happe
ns, we’re together. That keeps me calm.”
(“Pase lo que pase, estamos juntos. Eso me tranquiliza.”)

She turned to him. “I’ll have one person who knows the truth, who knows everything, whom I’ll never lie to. That’s a gift. You’re a gift.”

“Whatever it takes, however long it takes.”
(“Lo que nos cueste. Por el tiempo que nos cueste”)

He leído este libro desde el viernes. Ya lo terminé. Así soy. That's how I roll.
Hope you liked it (I know I did)
xoxo
